Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Puerto Vallarta fighter Miguel Angel Padilla Robles will represent Mexico in the World Championship of the International Amateur Muay Thai Federation (IFMA), which is set to take place from July 20 to July 30 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The only representative of the state of Jalisco that is part of the national selection of fighters representing Mexico in this important tournament, Miguel Angel will leave Puerto Vallarta on June 20 and head to the city of Phuket, Thailand.

There, along with the 13 other fighters that make up Mexico's team, he will participate in a month-long Muay Thai camp, where professional teachers and fighters will prepare them for the challenges they'll face at the IFMA World Championship.

In a press conference held last week, the Vallartense stressed the importance of the physical and mental preparation for this tournament, in which he will face the best fighters from more than 100 countries that will come together in the birthplace of Muay Thai to compete for the world cup.

After the training camp, Miguel Angel will travel to Bangkok to participate in the championship, in which, according to the registration of competitors and their categories, he'll have to win between 4-5 fights to reach the final.

Miguel Angel assured that he will be giving his very best efforts to win the gold medal in this very important sporting event in which the King of Thailand himself will hand out prizes.

It should be noted that last December, Miguel Angel Padilla won the gold medal at the 2018 Panamerican Muay Thai Championship in Argentina, and he previously obtained third place in the World Cup held in Cancun, Quintana Roo.

During the press conference, Miguel Angel took the opportunity to thank those who have supported him, including companies, officials and agencies such as the Municipal Sports Council, which has given him support in each of his trips.

In 2024, Muay Thai will be part of the Paris Olympics.
